FUNSOC is the group which organises all of the church’s social and fund-raising events.  Its membership comprises whoever wishes to come along and help with the planning what events to hold and when.  It plans the logistics of each event and finds organisers and helpers.

FunSoc meets in the Vestry up to 8 times a year.  Meetings are open to all and are advertised in the Weekly News and in The Pilgrim calendar of events. Events are wide-ranging and may be held in the Church or in the Parish Hall.  FunSoc also hosts events for other organisations, usually in the Church.   This contributes to our funds through venue fees, donations and/or from providing refreshments.

As examples of our range,  2013 included the Wyclif lecture (attended by 80 people and organised by Helen Goodman, MP),  the pre-Lent lunch (proceeds to Christian Aid), The Maundy Thursday meal, a concert by Quay Voices from Gateshead, a ‘Sticky Fair’, Paul Croft’s International Guitar Festival, Book Sales and Bank Holiday teas, a coffee morning at the Vicarage, a Talent Night, the Harvest Supper and 1000 Creations (art in the Parish Church).

Attending FUNSOC meetings and helping plan events does not commit attendees to doing running or helping at the events.
