Foodbank

We here at St Mary’s Parish Church are a collecting point for the Durham Foodbank.

Food can be left at any time in the labelled plastic container just inside the main body of the Church. This is emptied every day and the food taken to the nearby storage centre at The Well in West Auckland, usually once a month.

If you would like to get involved in collecting and donating food, there are shopping lists available in Church that give those things the Foodbank particularly need.

The basic list is as follows:

  • Sugar
  • Fruit Juice (not chilled)
  • Sponge Pudding
  • UHT Milk
  • Biscuits
  • Chocolate
  • Jam
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Tinned Rice Pudding
  • Tinned Fish & Meat
  • Tinned Vegetables
  • Cereal
  • Tinned Fruit
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Instant Mash
  • Tea/Coffee
  • Soup
  • Rice/Pasta.

At certain times of year such as Christmas there are special lists that are produced containing other items.
