If making music is something that you love to do, we have a thriving musical community based at Church waiting for you, including our Church Choir, Community Choir and Community Orchestra.
Bells are traditionally rung for Sunday Services, weddings and state and civic occasions. We have a small group of regular ringers and are always keen to recruit new people.
St. Mary’s Mothers’ Union is part of the worldwide Christian charity that aims to demonstrate the Christian faith in action through the transformation of communities worldwide.
The Flower Guild is a friendly group of people who enjoy arranging flowers in church on a rota basis.
The “Friends” is a voluntary group with an open membership, run by a committee who organise fundraising events for the benefit of the Church.
If you are a mum, dad, grandparent, carer with babies or toddlers, or an expectant mum, Smuffies is the place to be: our under-fives group is a warm and busy hive of play, activity and a chance to meet other families.
We share the “Big Story” of the Bible and our Christian faith with children at Green Lane CE Primary School.

We here at St Mary’s Parish Church are a collecting point for the Durham Foodbank. Food can be left at any time in the labelled plastic container just inside the main body of the Church.
Donations of sealed packs of sanitary products can be left in a tub under the table in the porch. Alternatively, if you would prefer to leave money so we can run the scheme, there are ‘Period Poverty’ envelopes that can be posted in the donations slot (near the organ) or give the envelope to Alec or Sarah.
Climate change is a reality. We all have a responsibility to care for creation and for this world. There is still time but we must act now both as individuals and collectively as church. The PCC is committed to this and has begun to consider how we might aspire to become an Eco Church.
