Fiction from Fact Creative Writing Workshop

Fri 16 July 2021, 11am - 1pm
St Mary's Parish Church

What happens when we deliberately blur the boundaries between fiction and fact? In this creative writing workshop, we will explore how to use historical facts as a starting point for speculative writing. To begin, we’ll gather some facts from our surroundings in St Mary’s Parish Church and then, using a series of writing prompts and exercises, we will consider how to blend facts into our fictions. You may not write your entire, best-selling historical novel in this session, but you’ll come away armed with some useful tools and tips for blending fiction and facts.

Designed for participants aged 14+, suitable for beginners and experienced writers

Do I need to bring anything?
No writing experience necessary, just bring a notebook and your writing tool of choice – perhaps the pen is mightier than the trowel?

Keeping you safe
In response to Covid-19, we are following public health guidance and may have additional measures in place, which are carefully designed to keep you and our staff safe and healthy. This means that you will have to wear a mask while you are inside the church, with the exception of those who are medically exempt.
