History Cold Case

17 July - 23 July 2021, 11:30am - 12:30pm
St Mary's Parish Church

Be a healer and an archaeological detective and help solve medical mysteries from the past!

Archaeologists dig for lots of things when we excavate, and sometimes we find skeletons. Skeletons can tell us many things, how old the person was when they died, whether they were male or female, and even if they had certain kinds of diseases.

In this activity, you’ll be going back over hundreds of years in time and you will meet a character suffering from a mystery illness. You’ll try to find out what is wrong with them, and then you’ll try to cure them using medieval herbs and remedies.

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope! We’ll provide everything you need, just bring yourselves and your enthusiasm!

Additional Information

This activity is self-led, so you might want to bring an adult to help you along the way.

Keeping you safe

In response to Covid-19, we are following public health guidance and may have additional measures in place, which are carefully designed to keep you and our staff safe and healthy. This means that you will have to wear a mask while you are inside the church, with the exception of those who are medically exempt or under 11 years of age.

How to Attend

There is no need to book for this activity, just drop in when you can. Please be aware that spaces around the cold case table are limited due to Covid-19, so you might have to wait a little bit when you get here.
